You will develop the skills in the role computer-based information systems play in organizations, how to assess global, domestic and industry trends and how to manage people, information, technology and more to produce goods and services. You will have a well-rounded business education touching on accounting, business law, computing, economics, marketing and statistics. The thirty semester hours of course work must be approved by the academic advisor and should not exceed more than nine semester hours in one academic discipline (e.g. MTKG). This major is intended for business students who wish to gain breadth in skills and knowledge within their undergraduate studies. It is particularly appropriate for students who wish to combine a study of business with a minor or extended coursework in a non-business field. The general business major is also suitable for students who intend to pursue a specialized master’s degree in business or who are interested in law school or other professional fields.
Continuing Education
Students must also complete 9 units of upper division General Education and a total of 120 units for the degree. The General Business degree is offered for students who are interested in many aspects of business but want to maintain flexibility to explore degree options and offerings across Spears School of Business. By choosing General Business, students will be exposed to more classes in different business units and then explore minors and degree options that fit with their interests. Overview of marketing and the interrelationships between marketing and other business disciplines. Topics include the management of the product, communication, price, and distribution variables as well as introduction to buyer behavior and marketing research. Requirements can be found in the Course Catalog, or in the College of Business and Economics listing of minors and certificates. The curriculum for the General Business Administration major is designed to provide a better flexibility that allows students to choose courses in the disciplines of Accounting, Finance, Management and Marketing based on their interest. The Herberger Business School is accredited by AACSB International at the bachelor's and master's degree levels. Students will receive an overview of the principles of modern business including accounting, management and basic communication skills.
